Interview: Kompass !

As you guys know, I've been talking about this german band a lot: KOMPASS ! 

Also known as Stereoview for a couple of years, they changed their name recently. They release their new single a week ago, you can download their song "Fernweh" for only 0,99 € (Itunes, Amazon etc). The video of "Fernweh" is on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkU_A4c61jw

I know that I wrote a couple of articles about this band on my blog but this one is different because I got an interview from the band ! It was a pleasure for me to interview the guys and it might be interesting for you to read this interview and get to know more about them.

1/ Please describe yourself in some few words

We are “Kompass” and we play rock/pop with german lyrics. We were founded in sommer of 2014. Our former band was called “Stereoview”. The band got 4 members named Julian, Daniel, Marc and Christian. We also are friends and not just only bandmembers.

2/ Where/how do u find your inspiration ?

We think we find our inspiration in other music and also in things that are happening in our lives. Also a story of a book or something like that can give you inspiration to write a song about. But in first line, it´s music.

3/ What are your songs about ?

The songs are about things that happen in our lives or things we think about. It´s very close to real life, we would say, and sometimes autobiographic.

4/ what does music mean to you ? how important is it ? tell us more about how music came in your life

Music is for all of us an important thing in life. It means a lot to us. To hear it, to play it. It´s hard to imagine a life without music. It wouldn´t work, we think. We all started making music or playing an instrument in the age of a teen. Like in the age of 13 or something. Since then, we never stopped making music.

5/ Is there any message you want to give through your music ? what are they ?

It´s awesome when people say they can feel the music and identify themselves with the lyrics. That´s the goal of all musicians, we think. There´s no politician message we wanna spread, but we want people to hear it and understand the lyrics, so they can choose in which they will understand it and make their own thing out of the lyrics.

6/ where does "Kompass" come from? Why did you change Stereoview into Kompass ?

We come from Betzdorf and Siegen. That are not the biggest towns/cities in Germany, but it´s ok to live there. It´s in the west/south-west of Germany. We changed our bandname ´cause there were memberchanges and also it´s a bit weird to have a English name when you play german music. We wanted to have a new conception an restart with a new name.

7/ are you going to realease an EP soon ? could u give us some indications about your future plans ?

We want to record an album as soon as possible. At this time, we are writing new songs. We think it´s realistic that in 2015 an album will be released! Also we want to play a lot! That´s the main reason why we are making music!

8/ can you say anything in french ?

I think we can speak just a little bit. We can't really talk to someone in French.

9/ what is your biggest dream ?

The biggest dream is to earn money with our music. That’s not that easy, but we are trying to do our best. It is important for us to be how we are. We will never do things only to get a “sell out”. In the end we are 4 friends that are having fun to play music.

10/ who got the idea of the video Fernweh ?

Daniel got the main idea of the video. He produces videos as his own job so he almost knows how things could work or not. But we were all involved in creating the storyboard. We are really proud of the result and we hope you like it, too!
